Decision Support System (DSS)

Strengthening Agricultural Market Intelligence through HARTI

About the DSS

The Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute (HARTI) has recently adopted a Decision Support System (DSS) to enhance agricultural market intelligence and support evidence-based decision making in Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector. The system has been developed under the Inclusive Digital Agriculture Transformation (IDAT) programme, implemented with the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation.

The HARTI DSS provides a powerful digital platform that enables researchers, analysts, and policymakers to examine wholesale food commodity price behaviour across Sri Lanka through interactive dashboards and visual analytics. By transforming large volumes of commodity price data into actionable insights, the system strengthens HARTI’s capacity to analyse market trends, understand price dynamics, and support informed agricultural and food policy decisions.
